My boyfriend owns many DS games, and usually once he plays, he moves onto a new game. But there’s one game he still plays once in a while, and that’s “Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!” (“Elite Beat Agents” in the U.S.)

I can’t believe it’s already December! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

I had a day off last Friday to get ready for a birthday party the following day. It was for an adorable 3 year-old boy of our close friends. I had a whole day to make Totoro cream puffs and chocolate covered Domo-kun marshmallows. I didn’t have to wake up early, but for some reason I got up very very early. So I decided to take this opportunity
to make a kyaraben! But I hadn’t made kyaraben in a while, so I wanted to ease myself into making kyaraben. I thought about making Totoro, but I wanted to try making something different… “Simple but different” gave me this idea.

I woke up a bit too late for a kyaraben, but a bit too early for a regular bento this morning. I sat down, started up my laptop, checking my email, and just stared at my sketchbook. I had drawn the sketch for a bento, but I hadn’t figured out how I’d put meat in it. I went to the kitchen to get orange juice, and I just decided to try making it.

how to make headcrabs

I’m always thinking about what kind of bento I can make next, and what kind of how-to I should do next. Sometimes, my boyfriend gives me suggestions for how-tos, and he’s been telling me that I should do a how-to on the headcrabs from the headcrab bento. I wasn’t sure because I really didn’t think anyone would want to make & eat headcrab, and I asked him “why headcrab?” He said that because not only it looked really like headcrab, but it was very delicious.
I couldn’t think of anything else to do for the how-to this weekend, and it was a request from my only customer after all, so I decided to do this. Of course, you don’t have to make headcrabs. It tastes exactly the same if it’s not shaped like head-crab. You can just a recipe for a simple finger food. (Not even sure you can call this a recipe…)
[How to make headcrabs]
- Potato
- Mayonnaise
- Parmesan cheese
- Salt & Pepper
- Bacon (You can put corn, or cheese instead of bacon)

I’ve been pretty busy with work for past couple of weeks. I work for an online card game called Alteil, which my company brought to the U.S. from Japan 2 years ago. We just released a new set of cards, so I’ve been translating, checking for bugs, writing emails to Japanese staff for days and nights, working at work and from home until past midnight most nights. So I’ve been itching to make a new bento!
Anyway, my boyfriend treated himself with a PSP with his tax refund a couple of months ago. The reason he wanted a PSP was basically for this game.
