For every PAX, I’ve written detailed blog posts about each panel Derek and I attended and what we did, saw, discovered, ate, etc… But due to my business trip to Japan right after PAX East I totally missed the opportunity to do it this time due to my business trip to Japan right after PAX East. But that doesn’t mean this PAX East wasn’t memorable or anything like that at all. In fact, super awesome stuff happened. Check out these blog posts to read more about it.
The rest of PAX East was also awesome. To prove it, I have tons of photos from PAX East which it’d be a waste not to share with you…
So here are photos and some videos from PAX East. WARNING: This post will be super photo heavy.
For this PAX East, I made 20 Ushanka (polar bear from Castle Crashers) hats!
These were our "lunch/snacks" for PAX East this year. We were munching like squirrels.
We stayed at the Seaport Boston Hotel the first night. They had a sewing kit in the bathroom! I had a full sewing set with me but I thought this was awesome.
Lobster roll - Like last year, we went to Yankee Lobster Fish Market. They have AMAZING & cheap seafood! This was our only decent meal in Boston.
Fried oysters - Mmmm mmm!
The view of the convention center from our room at 8:00AM.
A loooooong line was already forming.
The dudes from "Tribes" just "hanging" around.
Cool display but I couldn't tell which game this was from. Why no sign?
Can't start a PAX without the Keynote
The reason why I'm a Penny Arcade fan. If you don't know what's it about, just Google "Paul Christoforo."
Keynote by Jordan Mechner
Gamers With Jobs panel with Shawn Andrich, Ken Levine, Jeff Green, Sean Sands, Julian Murdoch, and Cory Banks
Finally entering the Exhibit hall, and BAM! The Behemoth's floating halo banner and the huge projector screen were right in front of us.
The Behemoth - I work there!
Super Soviet Missile Mastar machine at the Behemoth
Glorious merchandise display
Castle Crashers arcade cabinets bring family, friends and strangers closer!
Beautiful display! All thanks to Lee, our mysterious merch man!
Assassin's Creed 3 booth with a long line. Black & shiny with red back lighting... Does not fit Assassin's Creed theme at all, but sure...
Chevy's booth had cars. Don't know how this happened but we were told that it'll never happen again.
Steel Battalion Heavy Armor
Spec Ops: the Line
Sword & Sworcery: EP at Capybara
This crazy controller is Novint Falcon by Novint. Check the video below to see how awesome it is.
Aliens: Colonial Marines
To be honest, I was more excited to see the Power Loader with the Queen Alien than the game. (Yes, you could get in the Power Loader and take a photo!)
Firefall hired people to dress up in the costume. The guy couldn't move at all.
Okay, this is cute.
"You can buy me! I don't hate you!"
Far Cry 3 - They were giving people a Far Cry themed haircut (Mohawk) and TATTOOS live. I AM SERIOUS. It was projected on to the huge screen. You can see the stenciled outline of a tattoo on a guy's shoulder.
"I got a lot of free swag at PAX East!" "Cool, what did you get?" "T-shirts, posters, pins, and a tattoo."
Naughty Dog Uncharted panel
This happens everywhere in the hotels around PAX East. Card games, board games, everywhere you look, people are playing games.
Robert Khoo's panel (the guy who's behind PAX). This was the very first time ever in the PAX history. It started out late but it was so worth it. I can't write what he talked about though... ;P
So many people!
BattleBlock Theater arcade cabinets are always super popular.
Super Time Force!! I can't wait for this game to come out!
I'd seen the trailer for Super Time Force before and it was a bit confusing... until I watched Derek play it in front of me. I'm so gonna love this game.
Sword & Sworcery record! This shall be mine.
And of course, Dance Central 2 photos!
Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 looking soooooooooo gooooood!!
Mark of the Ninja - What? You can play a Ninja and be stealthy in this game?!
To prevent fake badges being made/sold, the badges had this thing that glows in the black light.
This lucky guy won the missile from the "Super Soviet Missile Mastar" display.
For the closing ceremony, Jonathan Coulton & Paul and Storm sang the Canadian national anthem.
I hope you get to experience the tiny bit of PAX from my photos. Hopefully, I can do a better post for PAX Prime that’s coming up in a little over 2 months.
For more pictures of PAX East 2012, visit Bento and non-bento! set and Bento details! set on my flickr page. (On the photos in the “Bento and non-bento!” set on my flickr, you can see the notes on the food explaining what they are.)
I was born in Japan, lived in New York for a while and now living in San Diego, California. I love creating things with my hands in my free time whether it’s making character bento or stuffing stuff! And now I'm working for The Behemoth, the most awesome video game company in history! Read more!
