stuffed stuff: Shmee from Johnny the Homcidal Maniac

in stuffed stuff

This is one of my old plush I made a couple of years ago.

Created and stuffed in May 2007

Shmee is a stuffed bear which a boy named Squee carries around in the comic. Squee carries Shmee around all the time and often talks to him like he’s a real person.

The pattern was nothing complicated. Simple two-sided head and body with cone-shaped arms and legs.

Stitching fake scars is fun!

Cone shaped/Cylindar shaped feet, a la my little pony

In fact, I thought it was too simple I decided to use different fabrics for different parts to add some character. I had a large amount of fake leather fabric I had bought for something else (the fabric an office chair is made out of) so I used it for the black part of his mouth and nose. I also had white latex fabric, so I used it for his eyes and teeth.

I like the texture on the black fake leather fabric.

I used leather strings for the hair.

And I stitched on the tail and added artificial stitches on his body in the end. I probably made this one really quick, in about a few hours, I think.

I usually give my plush dolls away but I still have this one. It’s kind of rare thing for me to make a plush and keep it and it makes me feel weird to own a plush I made. It feels like it’s not alive until it’s adapted. Maybe I’ll find him a nice home someday.

That’s so cool! A lot of disturbing images from the comic..but I guess that’s what you should expect when reading the title.

OH. MY. SWEET. BABY. ZEUS.
Do you sell these? I have been looking FOREVER for a Shmee teddy bear. I have wanted one ever since I picked up my first JTHM comic and my Garfield Pooky Bear was just brutally slaughtered by a dog so I need a new bear. I have seen your other plushies and they are perfection! I have attempted to make Shmee but have failed miserably, multiple times. Could you please help me out? I love your work, and of course Jhonen’s. (I’m such a dork) Thanks.

You would make soooooo much money selling these. Nobody makes these and jthm has a cult following so the demand is high. I would be your first customer for sure. Name your price. :-P
