After making the bavarois and cake using the Rabbid mold I got from Ubisoft, I thought I’d make a dinner with it. What’s a good food to be molded? Mashed potato! I’m going to post three pictures of this one so you can see the progression from plain Rabbid mashed potato into something more Rabbid like theme.
Non-bento #25: fun with Rabbid #3 – mashed potato / Rabbids Go Home dinner
Created and eaten on: 2/10/2010
First thing I did was make a lot of mashed potato. Then put it in the mold and patted down the mashed potato to remove any trapped air. I then put the plate on the top of the mold, held both plate and the mold together then flipped them upside down. I had no clue if this was even going to work, but wow! The mold came off very easily, and revealed mashed potato shaped like a Rabbid!
I curved the mashed potato out of his eyes, and put grape tomatoes in for his crazed red eyes.
And cut a slice of ham for the pink part of the ears.
I was already pretty happy with the Rabbid at this point, but just mashed potato itself couldn’t be dinner. I remembered the other Rabbid bento I made before, and decided to surround the Rabbid with meatball plungers. We had meatballs from IKEA, so I used them for the base. To make handles I made french fries, and stuck them on the meat balls.
I could've cut the meatballs in half, but I thought there would be way too many plungers. So I just used them as they are.
For vegetables, I just boiled broccoli, seasoned with salt and pepper. I also had some carrots cut into star shapes, so I sprinkled them along with some star shaped cheese.
In the game Rabbids Go Home, the Rabbids collect and pile up stuff as high as they can so they can return to their home, which is the moon. So I added a hard boiled egg as the moon.
After we took pictures, I couldn’t resist but to pour some gravy all over the plungers… I tried to make it not too “gross.”
It was a lot of mashed potato and a lot of meatballs. But I served this to my boyfriend and he ate the WHOLE THING by himself!
O_O
I knew he likes mashed potatoes, but it was at least for three people. Maybe it was the Rabbid’s crazy eyes that drove him to gobble up the entire thing.
