Sorry about the lack of blogging lately. My boyfriend and I are on a pretty long holiday vacation (we’re off until the beginning of the next year!), so I don’t have to make bento. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop making them! As soon as we finish watching DVDs & blu-rays and playing games we got for Christmas (maybe get some inspiration from them for my bento, who knows
), I’m going to be making more bento!
We had a little early gift exchange party at our friend’s place. I got my boyfriend Beatles Rock Band for Xbox 360, Jet Li’s “Fearless” on blu-ray (we own the DVD, but blu-ray looks so pretty) and the 1st volume of Moyashimon in English. He got me an amazing statue of pure awesomeness.
Check out my Laputa robot bento HERE and HERE!
I n our place we have built-in book shelves, and one of them in the foyer is dedicated to Ghibli stuff. On there we keep all our Ghibli music boxes, Nausicaa & Ohmu statues, Ghibli desktop calendar, etc… He knows how much I love the Laputa robot and adding more Ghibli stuff to the collection.
We didn’t do any Christmas decorations this year until the very last minute because, well, just like I mentioned, we’ve been busy enjoying our Christmas gifts. But after we came back from our Christmas night dinner at Minca (a ramen place in NYC), we decorated the Christmas tree pin cushion I made a very long time ago. The plush Christmas tree is not my original idea. I saw it on some site a long time ago but I couldn’t find it again.
It’s very easy to make. In fact, I made bunch of them and gave them to my friends at work. I made a cone shape with fabric, sewed it, put glass marbles at the bottom so it’d stay upright, and sewed the bottom by hand. I wrapped some ribbons on it, and put some pins on it. Then I sewed stockings with felt, for my boyfriend, my cat and me. My boyfriend made bunch of snowflakes! A couple of pine cones we collected from Prospect Park on a dinner plate, and voila!
Here’s the “naked version.” (with a star on the top) I kind of like this version too.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Happy Holidays! I like the look of the tree with only the star. It looks a little sad, but sweet.
Best wishes to you and yours! <3
Cute little tree! I might copy that idea for next year.
Interesting statue…looking forward to your bentos this year.
Happy New Year!
