bento sketch book #2

I went to see Watchmen and used 2 hours 43 minutes of my weekend free time instead of doing a how-to. So, I’m putting off the how-to until Tuesday, and I’m going to do show my sketches today. Since my last sketch book post got really long, I’m just posting five of them this time.

Bento #23: Cooking Mama!
At the end I added a spoon and fork. On the right bottom corner, it says “croquette, hamburg, takoyaki (octopus ball)”, those were my other ideas for the dish. I ended up making hamburg.

Bento #24: Raving Rabbids!
I made a list of what food rabbids would be made out of. I drew a face and stomach on the rabbid on the left but it didn’t look good, so I erased it.

Bento #25: Flying Totoro!
I wasn’t too happy with the fact that this looked almost the same as Sleeping Totoro…

Bento #26: Nekobus #2!
I originally thought of making the Nekobus’s body hollow inside and putting Makkurokurosuke meatballs inside as customers. Yeah, I must be crazy or something. Of course, I ended up not doing that, and just lined up Makkurokurosuke at the bottom of the bento. Since I messed up my first Nekobus bento, I wrote down what part on the face was which color. I wanted to put the mouse spotlights and the destination sign (which says “stomach”) but I ran out of time. I also drew the frog from the opening credits of Totoro, just in case I had extra time.

Bento #27: Wall-E bento!
As you can see, I drew in as much detail as possible. The panel on his chest, the side view of his treads, Wall-E’s eyes, Wall-E’s logo, etc… I originally wanted to make Christmas lights in the background, but didn’t have the time. In the drawing, you can see him holding his cockroach friend. I probably could’ve made him with fried potato, but I thought it’d be too small to notice, so I didn’t make it. Probably the biggest difference between the actual bento and this drawing is… M-O! I had no idea how I’d make such a tiny robot, but I drew him in there just in case I magically finished it half an hour early and had time to carve M-O out of kamaboko (fish cake) or something. I still want to make him someday though!
